Its been two weeks since I have been training like a triathlete, or at least I think I have been training like one. It sure takes a lot out of your willpower to wake up early in the morning to do a 10km run while the air is still cold, neither is it easy to train everyday when I know there is a slight chance that I may have chances performing due to the muscles not properly recovered yet. Then again, I cannot sit at home doing nothing. AT LEAST, just do some cores and perspire a little! Haha.. So yea, for this week, training has begun with Coach and voila, its cool.
08/03/2010: Training with Team Temasek TNF (Short D): Awesome. Only about 10 people came. Great. I think we just broke record for the least attendance. Of course, most of us are still in holiday mood so don't blame them. Haha.. Anyway, warm-ups increased from a distance of 50m to 100m (Talk about suicides) and then we did baton-passes. Jac wanted to kill my thumb with her whacking into anywhere but my palm. Man. I don't blame her cause she is not a relay sprinter but man, that senior's got to aim better :) Haha.. 6 times each- 3 for receiving and 3 for passing. Pretty slack workout, in my opinion. Better yet, we headed into the gym to do cores. Streamline, the 3 types of pushups, crunches and the Leg-raise throws.. I know its not spelt that way, but I love to spell it that way. 3 sets each, by the time I finished my third set of crunches, I figured that was how miscarriage felt like. Haha.. Cool-downs were cool and yes, the day ended with barely an ache.
10/03/2010: Gym day that evening! So it was lightweight hardcore workouts! Ironic, isn't it? Coach wanted us to do 3 sets of 3, which equates to 9 sets. In every set, there were benchpress, leg-curls, Bicep-pulling machine thing and squats. Lightweight to me meant 2-3 bars so I just did 2 bars for all except squats where I took 20kg :) Repeitions of all these three times meant one set so yes, you can imagine how many repetitions I did the entire day by calculating the Math. Haha.. We only have enough time for 2 sets of 3 though. After that, we did Standing Broad Jumos of 10 in 1 set on the grass. Total of 3 sets. God, I wished I was a frog then. Haha.. Anyway, that really set the muscles kicking. Lactate came and find me after so long and I swore my back almost broke under the squats during the last set =/ After that, we still played frisbee and when I showered, it ain't that bad but my muscles were sore. Every movement I made was not as agile but at least it didn't hurt that much cause I trained in the holidays while all of them didn't so they were feeling the aftermath more concentrated than me! Hahha... Especially Jacklyn ;)
11/03/2010: Trained with Team Temasek TNF (Long D). Only 3 sprinters were there. Eugene, Jacklyn and I. Man, the start was a run around the reservoir. I did 6mins per km and then sped up to 5mins per km. My timing was around 23mins so yes, it wasn't taking alot out of me but it was enough to make me ache cause my leg muscles from the squats were still sore from yesterday's. Haha.. At least I didn't stop once in the run :) After that, we stretched and then started the 200m Baton workout. 3 peopel in a team. 3 teams altogether. I was the 2nd runner, 3rd runner then 1st runner respectively in the workouts. Its 3 sets of 200m x 4. Which means my resting time would depend on how fast the baton is passed to me again. Not bad. My legs didn't acheand I started to feel damn good halfway during the workouts which I thought I cannot finish. Haha.. Timings were around 36-38 seconds. Marvellous~ After that, we just cooled down with 6 jogs around the soccer field and voila, stretched and played frisbee again. Its like our second sport now:) Hahaha...
I am a masochist. Even though the soreness is there, it feels good :)
